Asian State oil companies are focused on increasing their own energy security by controlling petroleum reserves throughout the world. These companies are designed to find energy supplies to fuel their economic engine at home without the need to be profitable. Rapidly developing Asian countries are seeking to develop and import Canadian crude to feed their ever expanding need for crude to make refined products. Barrels lost to Asia from Canada will have to be replaced, if available, with additional crude from politically unstable and potentially unfriendly countries that have oil resources.

The United States should be focused on maximizing the use of friendly and geographically close countries' petroleum reserves.
